Web server management ain’t easy. Server admins need to have a diverse set of tools at their disposal to keep up with the ever-changing needs of their clients. Here’s a list of .htaccess snippets that have saved my bacon in the past.

Redirect subfolder to subdomain
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^foldername/(.*)$ http://sub.domain/$1 [R=301,L]
Deny directory listing
Options -Indexes
